Jeanny Inthavong recently got to catch up with Michael Ian Cummings from SKATERS. Check out the interview below!

Jeanny: How did you come up with the name SKATERS & why is it in all caps?

Michael: We liked the name because we thought it was referring to punk. We weren’t trying to make it seem like it was referring to a genre, though. I’m sure why it’s in all caps.

J: What are your musical influences?

M: Everything from Bob Dylan to Misfits

J: How did you form?

M: Nick and I had a band in LA that we both left to form the band with Josh, who flew in from England on a day’s notice.

J: How would you describe your sound?

M: Funk punk

J: If you could only perform one song for the rest of your career, which would you choose and why?

M: “Streamer” because most people know it

J: If there was no such thing as music, where would you be right now?

M: I would be in Boston doing construction.

J: What’s a question you’re always hoping to be asked in an interview?

M: This question. It’s like an infinite response. I never got asked this question before.

J: What was one thing you wanted to be when you grew up that wasn’t music related?

M: I wanted to be a fireman when I was younger. I was young, and had a truck.

J: If you could tour with anyone dead or alive, who would it be and why?

M: David Bowie.

J: Would you rather sacrifice your life to defeat the Dark Lord or volunteer as tribute to be in the Hunger Games to save a family member?

M: I would rather save his family member and volunteer as tribute because they’re important as well.

J: Would you rather lose your voice in exchange for feet like Ariel or rather be raised by gorillas like Tarzan?

I would rather be raised by gorillas like Tarzan. It would seem cool. I don’t care too much about feet.

Everybody knows the story of Paradise Fears – six guys from a small town in South Dakota decided to make themselves known by following tours and selling CDs, a tactic that helped them get on tours with artists such as All Time Low, The Cab, The Summer Set, Forever The Sickest Kids, and this time around, Go Radio. But how many people know about the people who help behind the scenes?

We got the chance to catch up with Anthony Najarian, merch guy for Paradise Fears. Check out this interview to find out how he got started in merch, what he does when PF isn’t on tour, and who his favorite Kingdom Hearts character is, and make sure to follow Anthony on twitter! @A_Naj_Fears
