Heroes For Hire

From playing small acoustic shows in the courtyard of local indie music stores, to rocking the stage at Soundwave Festival, Australian pop punk band, Heroes For Hire go from strength to strength. Their third and latest album, “No Apologies” was released on the 28th of September this year, and is one of their strongest albums to date. What is one to expect though, when they’re handing out Frisbees with their pre-orders?

The title track of the album, according to guitarist and lyricist, Duane Hazell is ‘The single most personal song” he has ever written. The song combines a catchy rock beat with relatable lyrics that are easy to pick up and sing along to, that will have you dancing (hardcore or otherwise) in no time. The meaning behind this song is undisclosed by Hazell, but could be interpreted to be about the falling out of a friendship, which happens to almost everyone at least once.

The music video for No Apologies heavily features lead singer Brad Smith’s rap hands and locations significant to the band, including the shed where Hazell used to go to write songs.

According to the band, the title of the album, “No Apologies”, is “Our way of saying we aren’t sorry for the music we make, the way we act, and who we are as people” Which is a pretty good way to go about things when the band has been known to encourage people to drink out of their own shoes.

It’s not very easy to put Heroes For Hire in a box, but if it is necessary to sum up the band, it can definitely be said that they an amazing Australian band, and their music is full of truth and mischief in even doses, which makes them the perfect band to listen too when having trouble waking up in the morning, or having a bad day, or having a good day. In fact, on any day, listen to Heroes For Hire, and you can’t go wrong.
